She aspires to be a respected member of The Saints, constantly comparing herself to Johnny and Pierce and constantly up staging Pierce at every possible chance. In SR3 Shaundi has completely changed.
And by completely, I do mean completely. She has a new skin color, new body, larger breasts even when you take in a compression bra she seems to be wearing , totally different attitude, and is in no way, shape, or form the same character as in SR2 save for being a female named Shaundi. Gone is her relaxed attitude and her relaxed style of dress.
Now she is an angry and irritable character that has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol except in vague references of her past. She dresses in more provocative and tighter upscale clothing to give her a more serious look.
The Saints even treat her differently; dismissing her ideas and treating her like a mascot. Let us handle this. This is supposed to be the same character that constantly showed Pierce up in every way in the previous game. Shaundi was big into drugs, weed above all the others. Shaundi was loved in SR2 except by those jealous of and sickened by her methods, so why would they change her into a hardass for the sake of a movie? It doesn't seem like a logical change for a movie studio - normally when they change portrayal of one of the good guys, they do it so the fans will react more positively to them, not exponentially more negatively.
They care about making a movie appealing and commercial, and when reviews express discontent with the portrayal of an "actual person" like Shaundi, that would deter viewership.

Shaundi, i would guess alot had to happen between SR2 and the third.. And yes her and Johnny must have had some time to bond during that period because they never worked together enough for johnny to say "just like old times" to her. That doesn't explain the personality change.
